Heatwave Music Festival Blazes Weekend With EDM Performances At Northerly Island [PHOTOS]


Northerly Island — Thousands of fans flocked to Northerly Island to hear their favorite EDM artists as the weekend turned from summer to cool, drizzly weather.

Thanks to Saturday’s sunny skies and 80-degree temperatures, festival-goers flocked to three stages featuring artists such as GRiZ, Whethan, and Chicago natives Kaskade and Deadmau5’s Kx5.

Sunday’s lineup, which was much cooler, included headliners like Griffin, Tiësto, Slander and Malaah, as well as nearly 20 artists.

The festival first opened in Douglas Park in 2022, but moved to Northerly Island after neighbors repeatedly protested the number of private shows occupying public parks during the summer.

The festival’s new venue featured an art installation, the world’s largest rubber duck, and several food trucks and bars. He also has two water stations on the premises, and sometimes long lines of dry customers.

Heatwave is led by Auris Presents, which operates Chicago venues RADIUS, Concord Music Hall, PRYSM, and more.
