However, while he often rose to the genre’s hits before games, he had a strong aversion to rap. The $5 million artist has revealed Mike’s dislike of hip-hop, even though his name has been featured on multiple rap songs by Jay-Z and Kendrick Lamar.
“Black cats” often speak frankly about their feelings. He will compliment you on things he appreciates, but will come off as rude if you comment on things he doesn’t enjoy. Unfortunately, the rapper his NORE learned this the hard way.
NORE Says Michael Jordan Hates Hip-Hop

The rapper says his ethos was unfiltered when he revealed his hatred of rap at a Def Jam Christmas party. Jordan only spoke to Jay-Z (aka Hobb) in the industry, but he didn’t care about the genre at all. Here’s what he said, as seen in the ‘Radiodotcom’ YouTube video:
“Jordan hates hip hop. I saw him shut up Redman at the Def Jam Christmas party. We were all sitting there waiting to talk to Michael Jordan. Ni**a said, “Yo, Redman and Methodman are here.” [MJ] I said, “It’s a fucking rap.” I saw N**a say that… quote me. I think it was Redman and Methodman, but I’m next to him so I can hear him directly. He was like, “fuck rap.” That shit hurt me. Def Jam’s Christmas party, Mariah Carey’s hosting, shit. He spoke only with Hob, but he spoke with Hob. No doubt about it. ”
As someone whose name has been used in several rap songs, it’s funny that MJ doesn’t even enjoy listening to that genre of music. However, he has used his position in the hip-hop world to help his fellow former NBA players.
Jordan once let Jamal Crawford meet Jay-Z
MJ has no interest in rap, but is an admirer of Jay-Z’s work. Perhaps the two greatest celebrities in their respective industries respect each other.
Now, meeting the multiple Grammy Award winner is an impossibility for the vast majority of his fans. But of course that’s not the case with Jordan. And after learning that Jamal Crawford wanted to meet the renowned artist, MJ pulled some strings to make it happen.
“When I met Jay-Z, it hit me. I got really close with Michael Jordan and I was like, ‘I want to meet Jay-Z,’ and he was like, ‘OK,’ and I did it.” Imagine making it happen. It was incredible. ”
Clearly, being friends with Jordan has its own perks.
