Mumbai hip-hop artist Sia has always been into music since her school days, but the rapper never took it seriously. However, at the age of 18, tragedy struck when his father and grandfather, who ran the family business, died within his first year. Shire said, “Our company went bankrupt and I had to drop out of college because this financial hardship hit us.”
It was during this time that Shire began gigging, attending open mics, and interacting with like-minded artists. “I’ve actually come to think of myself as someone with that potential. [music]Since then, Shea has gone on to release several singles and has also performed at big events and festivals. I have to sit and write.”
Shire admits that he wasn’t always into hip-hop music and was actually quite a fan of heavy music. Growing up, she listened to Welsh metal band Bullet for My Valentine and US thrash metaller Metallica. “I fell in love with Kirk Hammett [Metallica’s guitarist]But it was the influence of American rapper Eminem that drew Shea to hip-hop. I took a break from rock music and got into hip-hop,” says Shire.
The rapper’s latest single is the bass-heavy, gritty “Shia Bia” (via Found Out Records), produced by her go-to collaborator Zero Chill. The new track follows last year’s fierce “Boon” with a touch of modern sexiness.
In “Shia Bia,” the Mumbai artist deliberately borrows the style of American rapper Bia. Shire says: [Bia]I wouldn’t say “Shia Bia” is a representation of who I am, but it’s a song based on what people have told me. [how to sound]Sia managed to catch Bia’s attention on social media when the US artist commented on one of her posts. “I think she set out with that in mind,” she says. There’s also a sophisticated music video released to accompany the track, with Sia being seen performing the song outdoors near the beach and in hotel rooms.
Shea is now keen on releasing more singles to keep up the momentum, and plans to work on collaborations as well. If I feel like it, I’ll drop the album.”The artist said, “Hip-hop is more than just music. It’s actually [about] Change the way people see the world. I want hip hop to make a difference in how India runs its economy and I think the music industry will explode one day and really help our country become better and raise awareness. ”
