Chicago Bulls guard Patrick Beverley believes bad parenting and current rap culture are the biggest reasons for Ja Morant’s recent troubles.
Morant remains with the Memphis Grizzlies and continues to work on himself after being embroiled in a string of controversies. The young man has also been accused of assaulting a teenager during his sister’s volleyball game.
The Grizzlies guard then attended a counseling program in Florida in preparation for his return to the NBA. And while he’s been heavily criticized for his actions, some couldn’t help but wonder where he went wrong.
So when asked to comment on Morant’s situation in a Barstool Rundown interview, Beverly didn’t hold back as he shared his two cents on the matter. Parenting aside, Pat Bebb believes that current rap culture, where artists show off their guns and act like thugs, has had a huge impact on Morant and much of today’s younger generation.
“I fainted… Parenting, parenting,” Beverly said of Morant’s issues, according to Outkick. Anyone with a gun it’s okay Look, it’s okay to show your teeth It’s okay to have your pants halfway down your ass So it’s okay now Old motherfuckers in silk shirts was on the beach saying, “Yeah, baby, let’s party like we did in the 80s.” Everyone was wearing sick shirts, and everyone was wearing the same clothes.
In a big echo to the 1990s, when parents kept reminding their kids what they were listening to, Beverly added: The culture right now is, “Shoot it, bang it, bang it, shoot it down, I got this money, I’m privately in his jet, this and that.” That’s the younger generation. Sadly it shouldn’t be based on our music, but mostly on what we listen to.
Patrick Beverly has supported Ja Morant since the gun scandal and all other issues related to him began.
Hopefully Morant recovers from this recent ordeal. Besides Beverly, Paul George has also shown support for Morant, even advising the Grizzlies superstar to cut some people out of his life.
It remains to be seen when Morant will return, but the Grizzlies are giving him time until he feels ready.
