MANILA—The National Police’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) appeals the Justice Department’s decision to dismiss allegations of illegal possession of ammunition, firearms and explosives filed against Congressman Arnolfo Tevez Jr. Research the possibilities.
PNP spokesperson PCol. Jean Fajardo said the CIDG had not yet received an official copy of the Justice Department’s decision, but they respected it.
“CIDG has not yet received a copy of the resolution. If this is true, we respect the Department of Justice’s findings and dispositions on this complaint. It just shows that we are here for you,” Fajardo said at a media briefing.
“First, we need to get an official copy of the resolution issued by the Department of Justice. In that case, leave it alone,” she added. .
Fajardo said the dismissed lawsuit was just one of eight complaints filed against Teves, noting that CIDG has a “strong case” against lawmakers.
“CIDG believes the lawsuit filed is strong and has evidence against Kong. Tevez et al. [akusado],” she said.
“The lawsuits brought by CIDG are well-founded. Those that are dismissed are considered minor setbacks, but do not affect other cases.”
DOJ spokesperson Mico Clavano previously said a batch of firearms seized during a raid on Teves’ property in Negros Oriental had previously been licensed to a particular Roland Pablio, and was sent to his agency. He said he urged him to drop his complaint.
Pabrio, meanwhile, will face a lawsuit, but Cravano said, “He remains one of the suspected masterminds behind the murder of Governor Degamo.”
