Alternative pop voices based in Brazil aduda has shared a new single, “Shortcuts.”
The songwriter started writing and recording songs at the age of 12 and music has become a constant part of her life. Her debut single, “Makeup Bag,” was released earlier this year and is reminiscent of her early Halsey songs and even AURORA.
Her new track “Shortcut” swirls between light and shadow, while her minimalist framework is reminiscent of Lana Del Rey. The São Paulo-based artist strives for her expression, her luscious vocals tingling with emotion in every word she says.
Aduda’s comment…
“The word ‘short cut’ stuck in my head for weeks and I knew I had to write a song about it. I came up with the chorus first, then Gary helped with the lyrics for the first verse, and I came up with the melody. After I finished the first part, I wrote the rest based on what was already there at that point.
The most difficult part was the ending bridge. I was able to rhyme some but I didn’t know what to do. That’s where Gary came up with the idea of ’Dudallap’. This allowed him to sing many verses in a short amount of time. Time passed and Enrique came up with the final melody for the song so I was able to finish it with my lyrics.s. ”
