Hip hop is a great genre to play and try. Various flows, instrumentals and genre crossovers are constantly being explored and American Male is no exception with their new single ‘Amalfi’.
“Amalfi” is abstract and unsettling in equal parts. There are beats where several components fuse together and ride on each other to create what seems to be endless. The only punctuation marks throughout the production are the occasional hits of violin strings that add a horror-style element to the track’s sound.
When the American man raps on it, he raps in a way that doesn’t work, slightly off the beat and still accompanying well. This isn’t the kind of song that makes you dance, but it’s the sort of song that makes you swallow with your eyes closed.
The track has steadily gained an American male following, cementing her status as a notable figure in contemporary music. About his work as a whole, he says: As with most of his life, it’s a balance of light and dark. “
