On Thursday (June 15), the magazine announced a “companion-voted award” alongside its annual R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players List, which selects the most influential executives in music today. announced to create
signboard‘s new honor, the R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players’ Choice Awards, pays tribute to the genre executives that peers believe have had the greatest impact on the music industry as a whole over the past year.
All Billboard Pro members, existing and new, have access to votes, with one vote per member.
The first round of voting is now open and will run until June 25th with an open call for candidates. The second round of voting will begin on June 26th and will narrow the top 20 candidates to the final top five.

signboard‘s past list caused a lot of discussion and attracted a lot of attention. Confusion ensued after the magazine partnered with VIBE in February to publish a list of the 50 greatest rappers of all time.
