Billy Duffy to perform at Ian Key's Indie Brunch
Legendary guitarist Billy Duffy joins Ian Key for an indie brunch on Louder Than War Radio this Saturday, June 17th. Billy will pick a selection of tracks for the show and talk about his formative years in Manchester, football and, of course, The Cult.

The popular show, which airs every Saturday at 11:00 am from November 2021, has featured a number of high-profile guests such as Kevin Rowland over the past 12 months. Jim Bob; Billy Bragg and Rick Buckler, and up-and-coming artists such as Meryl Streak. Caesar Spencer and country artist Amy Jo.

“I had a ‘wish list’ of musicians and artists I wanted to see on the show and Billy was on it from the start. It’s in the punk scene and I’ve always wanted to explore and learn about it,” Ian said, adding, “I had just done a string of pieces, so his arrival was perfectly timed.” added. “Punk Special” commemorating the release of “Keeping Control – Independent Music From Manchester 1977-1981 Box Set”.

The Cult will release their 11th album and seventh UK Top 20 album, Under the Midnight Sun, in 2022. The band will embark on its aptly named ‘Under the Midnight Sun’ European tour in the UK, playing three big outdoor shows and playing at Cardiff Castle on Tuesday 4th. July. It finished its short run at Peace Hall in Halifax the next day and at the Scarborough Open Air Theater on 6 July. Tickets for all gigs can be found here.

Billy needs no introduction to readers/subscribers of Louder Than War, as he has cemented his place at rock’s top table with the band’s frontman Ian Astbury. Formed in Bradford, The Cult burst into the mainstream in the mid-1980s with such legendary hits as Rain, Fire Woman, Love Removal Machine, Lil Devil and She Sells Sanctuary. He has many platinum-selling albums, including Love (1985), Electric (1987), Sonic Temple (1985), and Ceremony (1991). Post-punk pioneers, he remains one of the most provocative live acts of all time.
