The Cash Money Records founder took to Instagram on Thursday (March 16), billboard For not mentioning the hip-hop CEO who helped the culture. In his post, Birdman states, billboard and claimed that he was hip-hop’s greatest CEO in 50 years.

The final 10 included Nicki Minaj, Snoop Dogg, Drake, Lil Wayne, The Notorious BIG, Eminem, Tupac, Nas, Kendrick Lamar and JAY-Z. The list drew polarizing responses from both fans and artists, with Ice Cube, Ja Rule and others giving their two cents for the issue.
Last month, Birdman went one step further and criticized Billboard for failing to mention a CEO who changed corporate culture. The 54-year-old says he doesn’t understand why all the talk about his 50th anniversary in hip-hop revolves largely around the “legendary artist” who changed the game.
In his view, music industry executives played as important a role in the rise of hip-hop as the artists they supported, and should be equally applauded.
“I am confused about the 50 years of hip-hop that they pay homage to legendary artists, and the CEOs who kept these artists at great heights wondering how to keep hip-hop alive. I think we showed them,” Birdman wrote.
“I remember they said hip-hop was dead, but we kept it alive.
