In an interview, Bobby Shmurda labeled hip-hop music as “dangerous” for children. danza project podcast. The Brooklyn native revealed his newfound feelings to the host, stating that he “doesn’t want to be part of the rap game.” He even claimed that he doesn’t listen to rap because music is “bad for young people” and only listens to new music when he goes to clubs.
“These kids are following you and you’re rapping about this fucking lifestyle…and it’s very dangerous for the community. I’m thinking, and you didn’t live it,” claimed the “Wholebrick” artist.
He continued, “Rap is supposed to teach the Moussavkas to go from negative to positive, from poor to rich, and how to stay and change. That’s what I want to hear.” I want to hear about life…I don’t know anything about not having rappers…I only listen to rap when I’m in the club.”
Bobby’s new way of thinking is very different from the new music he’s released since getting out of prison. The artist, whose real name is Akkil Jean Polar, has released his latest single “Rats” in January 2023. “Rats” is 28-year-old Pollard’s offensive take on hip-hop’s “snitch.”
“Lights up, hey shit, everybody rap / Most of them are rats / Everybody talk, everybody / Oh yeah, shoot me.” / All my ni**s are over, applauded ni**us / All my ni**s are traps ni**us / Oh yeah, I told Zet to fuck that pack / Gino ran it, Beto ran it/I told them I’d keep that bag running, yeah, yeah,” he laps across the track.
With the rapper poised to release more music throughout 2023, it will be interesting to see where his subject lands. Whether this long-awaited debut solo album from New York sounds like Bobby in “rap is dangerous” or Shmurda in “Rats” is up in the air.
