Today, a huge police cordon has been erected across the north Manchester compound, with forensic officers and Tactical Support Force officers on the scene.
Part of Topley Street in the Irk Valley estate in Manchester’s Colliehurst neighborhood is currently taped off. A cordon is located near the intersection with Rochdale Road.
A nearby Vine Pub was also cordoned off by the police.
A local councilor said there was a “shock” on the property over what he called a “suspected firearm release,” claiming people had been told to stay home as a result.

Earl Pat Carney, who represents the area, tweeted, “We are shocked that a firearms release may have occurred in connection with an issue on the premises.
“I grew up on this property and am in contact with the locals who were told to stay in their homes. We are also in full contact with GMP.”

The photo also shows Tactical Support Force officers sweeping the area for evidence. The nature of the incident has yet to be confirmed.

Residents ‘told to stay home’ after ‘firearm firing’ suspicion
A Manchester city councilor in the area says the property is in “shock” over what he called a suspected “release of firearms”.
Earl Pat Kearney claimed residents were told to stay in their homes.
The Manchester Evening News is seeking clarification from Greater Manchester Police.
Earl Kearney tweeted: “We are shocked to learn of the potential for firearms in connection with the trouble on the estate.
“I grew up on this property and am in contact with the locals who were asked to stay there. [sic] House.
“We are also in full communication with GMP.”
