The Creative License Theatre Collective is currently rehearsing for their next show. Apartment 3Awith special weekend-only performances scheduled from September 5 to 8. The company is celebrating its 10th anniversary and its third year as the resident non-musical theater company at the historic Cohoes Music Hall.
Annie Wilson is having a bad day. After witnessing her boyfriend's acrobatic infidelity, she has a televised panic attack while hosting a telethon for the local PBS station. With her world upended and her faith in humanity shaken, Annie moves to a seedy apartment. But despite the peeling paint and bleak views, Apartment 3A may be the most magical move Annie has ever made. A brilliant romantic comedy from critically acclaimed actor Jeff Daniels, Apartment 3A is a treasure trove of quietly humorous revelations as Annie faces her fears and opens her heart to an unexpected suitor.
Brigitte Rose was last seen in Creative License God of MassacreAnnie and David Quinones Jr., and most recently on C.L. Life After Death: Ghost Storieswill star as her new neighbor, Donald. Company newcomers Joe Prock and Steven Haenel will play Annie's co-workers Elliot and Tony, respectively, and Creative Licensing co-founder Aaron Holbritter will round out the cast as Annie's new landlord, Dal.
Casey Poloman, the show's director and the company's other co-founder, has been honing her romantic comedy pedigree in preparation: “There aren't many romantic comedies that I haven't seen, but in preparing to direct this show, Broadcast News “I had never seen the 1987 film (directed by James L. Brooks) before, which was incredible, but there were so many references to it. I love the genre and I'm excited to be able to tell such a funny, heartwarming story.”
Performances will be at 7:30 pm Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Sept. 5-7, and 2 pm Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 7 and 8.
