Mecosta — Elvis tribute artist Jake Slater brings his voice and bravery once again to Mecosta Music on the River.
The performance will take place on Friday, June 30th from 6:30-8:30pm at 395 W. Main St., Bromley Park.
Slater said he looks forward to the show at Mecosta every year.
“I think it’s my 4th or 5th time coming here. I love the venue, the park. The weather is always great. It’s one of those shows,” he said.
He said he loves making connections with people, especially those in Mecosta, through his career as an Elvis tribute artist.
“I love the people there, the people are great. A lot of people who knew me from that show came to other shows. I can connect with Elvis fans and make them smile.” It’s really great,” he said.
Slater wants to bring back memories for those who had the chance to see Elvis, and create similar experiences for those who didn’t.

He recalls the first time he played Mecosta’s “Music on the River” and said it’s great to be invited again and again.
“When I first went there, I found that people didn’t know what to expect. There were a lot of people there who had never seen me before,” he said. rice field.
Slater knew he had to make a good impression.
“I started the show and felt like I had to give them something. I tried to do a really good show. I started saying I hadn’t seen it,” he said.
He delights in captivating crowds with his Elvis-like style and voice.
“They’ll look at me and say, ‘I look like Elvis,’ and wonder if I sing like him,” he said. “They ask if I’m lip-syncing, and when they find out I’m not, they’re usually convinced. By the end of the show, everyone’s really enjoying themselves.”
Slater discovered Elvis himself as a child, but had no intention of becoming an Elvis tribute artist. Actually, he was shy when he was a child.
“I felt like I broke out of my shell when I moved north,” he said, adding that neighbors helped him book his first show.
“Then it snowballed into something I never expected,” he said. “Fifteen years later, we’re still doing the same thing,” he said.
