Iggy Pop has released a short new documentary about the making of his new album Every Loser, featuring an interview with Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea and behind-the-scenes footage from the studio. there is
The broad conversation covers everything from pop’s first forays into songwriting, to forming the Stooges, to how he likes to wake up in the morning. In case you’re wondering, the trick is to force yourself to feel good.
“If you’re in a bad mood, make fun of me,” he says. “Don’t get down, don’t get down”.
Also covering how the Stooges influenced Flea himself, Pop talks about how one of the Stooges’ early songs was inspired by Ravel’s “Bolero.” A song where pop “sings about illness”. Furthermore, he talks about how listening to all kinds of music all the time has helped him to have such a long career.
He explains: No matter what kind of nice music I listen to, I am enthusiastic that it is really good. Dionne Warwick as Bacharach always amazes me. Look, I heard that [think] “Wow”. I wasn’t stuck in one thing, and that helped me move forward. ”
He also spoke about working with producer Andrew Wyatt on Every Loser. [of our first conversation starting] He asks me very personal questions about my entire career. “How did you feel when someone did this to you?”
Wyatt explains from his side: [Then] I thought, “Why don’t we make a track?” And he was like, “Of course!” He was obsessed with it.”
