Godflow Fest is Impacting the Culture in Minnesota with Christian Rap

Godflow Hip Hop & Hope Fest (@godflow_fest) has reinvented itself as a way to heal the hearts of those lost in despair following the murder of George Floyd in 2020. The festival reaches urban youth in the Twin Cities of Minnesota (St. Paul and Minneapolis). On August 17th this year, attendees from across the country will gather to enjoy live performances by 13 national and local Christian hip hop artists, including Torey D'Shaun, CJ Emulous, Toya Love, DKG Kie, KHAM, V Squad, Not Kylde, Xay Hill, Dj Evon, and more.

Godflow is more than just a festival. It serves as an extension of the youth outreach of Man Up Club, a 501(c)3 nonprofit mentor-leadership organization for young black men. Man Up Club was founded by Grammy-nominated artist and Christian hip hop pioneer Corey “XROSS” Dean Sr. (@heyxross). He sent out all of Man Up Club members to lead a citywide march of 15,000 young people through the streets of Minneapolis. In the summer of 2020, after a heartfelt speech on the Hennepin Bridge, XROSS led an impassioned prayer for the city.

Godflow Festival will be hosted by brother and sister hip hop duo Sis N Lil Bro (@wesisnlilbro). The brother and sister are part of the First Family of CHH. Their father is XROSS, who is their manager and serves as the CEO of the family label 1 Way Entertainment. Their father previously released an independent album for their oldest son, K-Jay (who started rapping at age 9 in 2003). With 20 years of experience in the industry, the Godflow family has a lot to be thankful for. “Sis” (aka Celena Lena (@iamcelenalena)) was called to a mission in 2016, and “Lil Bro” (aka Tytist (@iamtytist)) began rapping the following year. Sis N Lil Bro are excited to host and perform at Godflow for the second time and will be bringing their acting skills to the show, having recently appeared on the hit TV series “Kingdom Business” on BET+.

“GodFlow is an incredible outreach festival that has taken great steps to connect with the community through music and opportunity, and we're thrilled to partner with their label, 1 Way Entertainment, to distribute their artists.”

Doc Watson, CEO and co-founder of Reflection Music Group Amplify
In addition to bringing national recognition to the CHH movement, the festival is also known for inviting special celebrity guests to share their faith and experiences in Christ. Past Godflow guests include Cedric the Entertainer, Tip “TI” Harris, and Angela “Blac Chyna” White, who have inspired both saved and unsaved youth in hip hop culture. Other guests include DJ Malsky, 1K Few, Aha Gazelle, Halvey, Dee One, Emmanuel (formerly Da Truth), Angie Rose, Canton Jones, Mike Teegee, Teazle, Clifford Gray, Portia Love, Mission, Range the Artist, George Rose, and Young C.

Man Up Club, promoters of the Godflo Festival, have opened their own clubhouse in downtown Minneapolis. They offer mentorship, tutoring, music making, culinary arts, architecture, and physical health and fitness opportunities to the youth of the community. The clubhouse will be renovated to be the site of this year's Godflo Festival. The address is 1018 N 5th St. Minneapolis, MN 55411.
