Goldie Locks is ready to make some magic in her band's next two music videos.
The former TNA star fronts her own band, the Goldie Locks Band, and recently released a new music video for their song, “Just Say Yes.” The funky homage to the '70s was months in the making, with Goldie Locks spending months collecting items that could be used in the video. She says that part of her overall brand is about saving money and making things work for her, and that remains true in the video.
Why Goldie Locks came up with “Just Say Yes”
“[I was] I was super involved in how that video was made. I was actually driving the car when we were on tour, and I was on the bus. I love hearing from my bandmates and their opinions and ideas. So we were brainstorming what we wanted “Just Say Yes” to be. Of course, the obvious answer would be, “Marriage and proposal.” And we were like, “Enough is enough.” We had that song for years. “Let's play a dirty guy and a dirty girl who sell used cars.” “Okay.” And then… “Let's make it retro.” So we had that great idea, but then we realized, “What is it going to look like with all these retro cars?” That was the extent of the effort to make it look authentic, so we were like, let's get that '70s vibe, what else can we do?
“So I literally spent six months collecting and getting all this stuff. And then, of course, I called my dad, and he was so excited, going through the cupboards and going, 'Oh, I've got a lunchbox from the '70s'. He couldn't wait to get all his treasures out. So the products in there, Muff Magic and stuff, were my bandmate Rod Saylor's idea. I said, 'Give me some filthy, funny names for the products and soaps and vacuum accessories,' and they all came up with funny ones. Then I went to the dollar store and bought all this junk and printed it out.”
Goldie Locks talks about video costs
Goldie Locks is known for her passion for finding good deals. She appeared on TLC's Extreme stinginess and Calling on the stingy guysSo, she was asked how much money she tried to save up to film her music video.
“That video was supposed to cost, like, $40,000. And it didn't. The way I saved money is I salvaged a lot of stuff from trash cans and dumpsters and dumpsters and bins. All my clothes are second-hand. Mostly vintage, from vintage shops that I deal with. So I saved money there. The production staff let me do one slide-by,” she explained.
The band are currently working on two new videos and have set up a GoFundMe to help raise funds – as they are not receiving any production support this time, the funds raised will go towards filming and related expenses.
“I didn't know.”
Goldie Locks was thrilled to have the opportunity to work with fellow singer James and The Lux, a popular country-western rap duo from Georgia. Locks was so moved that she cried after hearing The Lux's lyrics set to a classic rap beat she found online. Locks is currently exploring how to bring the music video to the big screen.
“Mickey plays another woman in the video, which is like a 'Sexy Rain' machine that we just finished building. [We’re] We saved money. Renting a rainmaker would cost $5,000 a day. We made our own out of PVC pipe. [Our drummer] We watched some YouTube videos and sprinkler heads.
“It's hanging on two poles and it's 20 feet long. I said on Facebook: 'I need help, DM me for details and payment' and I got 10 DMs saying, 'I need someone to stand on the hole and operate this rain machine. I can make this much in an hour'. There are beautiful girls and women desperate to get into the film industry and get credits on IMDB,” she said.
Goldie Locks exposes herself
Goldie Locks reiterated the importance of being proactive and asking for help, regardless of what you're trying to achieve.
“It's amazing how many people out there want to be a part of something and want to help you, but if you just sit in your room wanking off and don't tell anybody, you're never going to get anywhere. That's why I'm telling you,” she added. “If you're listening to this, whatever you want to do, be inspired. Be joyful. Pray to God. To the angels. To the universe. Just say to whatever you believe in, 'Hey, can you help me?' And holy shit, look what happens. It's magical. It's amazing.”
