With summer approaching, live entertainment is about to take off in earnest. Besides the celebrations planned for what could be the most exciting musical movement of the last century, the anniversary is yet to come.
Some of the upcoming show line-ups, while star-studded, still feel incomplete. My guess is that it’s because the promoter is looking at artists who came out in his late 80’s (earliest). But some fans want more because the memories stick with them.they had Victor box. They rocked Lee, Sergio Valente, Tailroad, Kryze, 69ers, Mocknex, British, Cortefiel and AJ Lesters. They frequently rode T-Connection, 371, or Norman Thomas boats. Their taste buds need a little more time.
or With a line-up that once filled Harlem World, the light will finally shine on the audience. We’re talking about three traitors: Cold Crash Brothers, Fearless Four, Crash Crew, Mel, and Scorpio. These names are among the performing artists at the Hip-Hop Mixtape 50th Anniversary Live Concert at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City on June 17th. Supervised by DJ Jazzy Jeff, Doug E. Fresh and Charlie Mac, the show features 50 MCs from the 70’s, 80’s and 90’s including Sugar Hill Gang, Roxanne Chante, Yo-Yo and DJ KOOL. I will perform. , JJ Fudd, Schooley D, Mony Love and more. Showtime is scheduled to begin at 7:00 pm, and ticket prices range from $55 to $175.
Just… this show seems to be beaten by its sheer scale alone. On August 11th, 50 years later, it was announced that “Hip Hop 50 Live at Yankee Stadium” will be held at Yankee Stadium.
For now, the headliner appearance could be Run-DMC’s final reunion for a performance called “Bottom of the Nine…The Walk Off.” Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube are also on deck, and the women shine as ‘Queens of Hip-Hop’ spotlighting the collective Eve, Lil’ Kim, Remy Ma and Trina. The Pillars of Hip-Hop set features Kool Herc & Cindy Campbell, Grandmaster Kaz, Curtis Blow, Mele Mel, Roxanne Chante, Scorpio and the Sugar Hill Gang. The Legendary DJ set features Clark Kent, Marley Marl, Manny Fresh, and Battle Cat.
Tickets will be available from pre-sale on Thursday, June 8 from 10am EST to 10pm EST. General sale begins Friday, June 9th at 10am EST. Tickets start as low as $50. “Hip Hop 50 Live at Yankee Stadium” is a collaboration between Mass Appeal, Live Nation and the New York Yankees. Additional artists will be announced in the coming weeks, including TI, Fat Joe, Common, A$AP Ferg, EPMD, Ghostface Killer, Lupe Fiasco and Slick Rick.
