Hip-hop star Future and his Free Wish Foundation are partnering with the 2K Foundation to launch an educational lab in the Atlanta area where he grew up.
The “I Am a Dreamer” STEAM Lab supports all students who want to pursue a career in science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. The goal is to bridge the technology and science education gap among historically marginalized students.
The lab is located at Bessie Branham Park in the Kirkwood neighborhood of Atlanta.
“It is important that all students have access to a STEM education regardless of their background. Our Freewishes Foundation, with the support of the 2K Foundations, has helped make this possible in our Atlanta community. We appreciate their efforts in supporting our efforts,” the music artist said in a statement.
Those involved in the effort said it was important to include art in the effort.
“Future and I are both champions of creativity, so we wanted to add art,” said Tia Wilburn, Future’s sister and the foundation’s executive director. “Our aim in providing educational opportunities is to ensure an inclusive and quality education for all students, regardless of income or background. We want to bridge that gap so that no child is left behind.”
Future has been involved in several educational activities, including awarding one fan a $2,000 scholarship and two concert tickets at each destination of their 2019 concert tour.
