Pets are simple creatures. Stomach rubs, treats, and squeaky toys are enough to get you through the day.

Our furry friends may be a little more sophisticated than they appear due to new evidence that animals have their own musical tastes.

Half of pets get excited when certain music genres are played, according to a survey of UK owners. More than 1/3 of his dogs are into rock, and his 30% of cats love classical music.

Also, over 40% of hamsters enjoy hip-hop and rap beats. A spokeswoman for Rebecca Downes Music, the record label that conducted the poll, said, “It’s official. Pets love music just as much as humans, and they have favorite genres that different animals respond to.

“Some people dance, jump, or just get too excited. Just like humans.”

A whopping 94% of musicians who have pets say their animals improve their health and creativity. A survey of 2,000 British adults found that dogs who liked rock and roll the most lived in Yorkshire and Humber, followed by Scotland, Wales, the North East and London.
