CHICAGO — Music, culture and community in Hyde Park this weekend.
Hyde Park Summerfest (known as Hyde Park Brew Fest a few years ago) is held at Midway Plaisance Park on Saturdays and Sundays and features some of the hottest hip-hop and soul artists.
“This weekend is going to be great. We literally have Clipse, 2 Chainz this weekend,” said festival partner Nosa Ehimwenman.
Sunday’s headliner will feature Lil’ Kim and a Chicago tribute to hip-hop’s 50th anniversary featuring Vic Mensa, Twista and Crucial Conflict.
In addition to bringing top talent to the stage, the festival partners with community organizations to help raise funds for various projects.
“Summerfest proceeds will be used as grants to empower young people,” Ehimwenman said. “When we talk about crime, how are we going to fight it? We have to fund them.”
