Biafra’s indigenous IPOB has denied claims it intends to disrupt Saturday’s Anambra gubernatorial election.
The group said it intended to boycott the election because it is the same as other elections held in Nigeria.
It said, “The unsubstantiated, ridiculous accusations sold by politicians that the IPOB is trying to disrupt Saturday’s polls are not only unfounded, they are utterly unfounded.”
The group said that instead of heeding the disturbance from the IPOB, the people of Anambra should be heeding the security personnel sent to the state to kill and maim their citizens.
“What the good people of Anambra State must watch out for is INEC’s well-known misconduct. I advocate a complete boycott of the election of APC because, despite the warm words of a free and fair election emanating from the APC’s praise, Aso Rock has already decided who he wants to be sworn in as Anambra governor. “Free and fair elections cannot be held in a country as riddled with institutionalized corruption as Nigeria. IPOB further said:
“The IPOB Intelligence Unit, with the help of Rochas Okorocha, has revealed plans for the APC to import voters from Imo State. By bussing upstate youth to Anambra to vote for Willie Obiano, we are working to fight IPOB as a reward for signing.
“At this time, we have put together a plan to declare the winner of the APC candidate whether or not people vote. What this means is that our votes do not count. It’s the same as justifying,” IPOB said.
