John Fullbright opens Gulley Park concerts; Tim Eason leads songwriting in Eureka Springs


John Fulbright kicks off the Gully Park Concert Series in Fayetteville on June 8th. Each concert begins at 7:00 PM at the Gully Park Gazebo. Nick Parr & The Selfless Lovers to perform on June 15th. Arkansas on June 22nd. On June 29th, Funk Factory will host a kids’ night featuring obstacle course inflatables, bounce houses, face painting, jumbo-sized yard games, and more. The Dead Horse Mountain Band will perform on June 29th. Ashtin Burberry will end the series on July 13th.

Now in its 27th year, the series has become an art catalyst, offering an atmosphere of outdoor music with a local twist.

Lawn chairs and blankets are available for you to enjoy open seating on the lawn. Dogs must be kept on a leash. A food truck will appear on the premises. Limited paved parking is available near the park entrance on both Old Wire Road and Township Avenue. Parking attendants direct vehicles to extended open field parking areas as needed. Carpooling is highly recommended.

Songwriting

Internationally known singer/songwriter Tim Easton will lead a three-day songwriting workshop at the Writers’ Colony in Daly Hollow, Eureka Springs from August 23-25. . This workshop is intended for those with basic composition skills and basic musical talent. Class sizes limit late afternoon and evening classes to his eight participants.

Easton’s compositional style is folk-based and personal. Rolling Stone praised him for having “a novelist’s humanity.” He has released 17 albums and collaborated with other artists, including Lucinda Williams.

The workshop is $350. A participant can also stay in the colony for her three nights with board for an additional charge of $315. Other accommodation options are available in the city.

The Trillium Salon Series presents its first Thursday series of musical performances at the Crystal Bridge. The C4 Clarinet Quartet will perform works by female composers at the Early American Gallery on June 8 at 6:00 PM. Christina Silvius will perform at the Contemporary Gallery on June 8th at 6pm. Untight will play specially composed music to match the lighting inside James Turrell’s ‘Skyspace’ on August 3rd. D. Riley Nicholson will exhibit his 20th-century and his 21st-century seldom-heard minimalist works at the Early American Gallery on September 7th. Analog synthesizer and improvisational trumpeter Sarabelle Reed will be on his October 5th at the Contemporary Gallery.
