Elementary school students from Los Alamos Public Schools gathered at Chamisa Elementary School for the Spring District Elementary School Choral Workshop hosted by the LAPS Elementary School Music Teacher. All her LAPS Elementary Choir Club students were invited to improve their singing skills and sing in large choirs led and accompanied by members of the music team.
The first district workshop was held at Mountain Elementary School last fall. The students continued practicing the songs introduced in the first workshop and worked on some new choral pieces.
Music teachers from each elementary school participated, including Jacob Lucero from Aspen, Valerie Collins from Barranca Mesa, Megan Torren from Chamisa, Galina Austin from Mountain and Nick Montoya Valdez from Pinon Elementary.
“We all wanted to continue the wonderful tradition of elementary school choir workshops in our district,” said Austin. is.
About 60 students from grades 3 to 6 participated in the workshop and spent time performing four songs, including “When you see the wind, there is a friend in me,” “Chumbara,” and “Kushimama.” I was.
