Live Music at Wistaria Festival


Sierra Madre — On Sunday, March 19, live music greets visitors on the sidewalk stage outside the Sierra Madre Playhouse for the annual Wistaria Festival.

The festival is an annual event in the Sierra Madre, featuring 100 craftsmen and food vendors, and a car show. The festival celebrates the world’s largest wisteria tree in the Sierra Madre.

Participation is free of charge and donations are accepted.

Yuki Inoue and LA Taiko Troupe will perform at the Sierra Madre this Sunday.

The Sierra Madre Playhouse is located at 87 W. Sierra Madre Blvd. in Sierra Madre.

Planned lineup of acts:

9:45 a.m. Daniel Rodriguez, “American Tenor” (and former New York City “Singing Cop”) sings the national anthem.

10am Kostanoan Ramsen Carmels share traditional songs, dances, drums and blessings.

12:00 Molly J. McDevitt of Sierra Madre and Los Angeles-based indie rock band Copper Lantern.

1 p.m. AKT Academy Youth Theatre. The theater company is based in the Sierra Madre Playhouse.

2:00 PM Daniel Rodriguez returns with his wife, soprano and opera singer Marla Kavanaugh.

Ikes Creek, a bluesy Americana band featuring Cori Cable Kidder who performed at the Sierra Madre Playhouse’s ‘A Patsy Cline Holiday Concert’, ‘Pump Boys and Dinettes’ and ‘Always… Patsy Cline’.

16:00 LA Taiko Troupe. A Japanese drum ensemble that appears as a guest of the playhouse at the wisteria festival every year.
