A man has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder and conspiracy to murder following the May 20 mass shooting in Montego Bay, St. James.
The indictment is Renald Linton, 25, a retired cab driver from the same parish, Pitfour, aka “Short Boss.” Another man was detained pending further investigation.
Linton was charged in St. James with the murders of Ramone McFarlane, 31, a.k.a. “Brownman”, of an industrial estate, and Iyadeh Gudden, a.k.a. “Shiva”, 27, of Kawaguchi Scheme.
Barnett Street Police reported that at about 3:20 p.m., McFarlane and Gooden were traveling in their Toyota Probox car as they approached the intersection of Harbor and Union Streets when an unidentified man appeared. He was attacked and shot at by assailants. .
Police officers on duty at the scene heard the explosion and went to investigate. Upon arrival, two men were seen fleeing the scene.
Police gave chase and were able to arrest Linton. The injured men were taken to hospital and pronounced dead.
An investigation was launched and Mr. Linton was indicted on June 3 after consultations with the Attorney General’s Office. Another man is in custody and his identity has not been released pending further investigation.
Police are urging two men suspected of involvement in the shooting to turn themselves in immediately.
They are known as ‘Mojo’ and ‘Kino’ and both are at Pit Four in Granville, St. James.
