Miley Cyrus likens new love to flowing water in his uptempo new song “River,” out today (Friday, March 10). Along with the track’s release, the singer-songwriter also announced her new eighth studio album. endless summer vacation.
In “River,” Cyrus lets his guard down and dives into going all out for the one he wants while speaking to her love interest. She presents her idea that her life was filled with cracks, similar to what was left in the dirt during the drought, until she met a certain someone.
Using metaphors, she tells the object of her affection that he “Like a river” And her heart beats loud enough to drown her out.
“My heart beats too loud to drown me / I live in April showers / You’re pouring down, baby drown me (Ooh, Ooh, Ooh)Cyrus sings the song’s pre-chorus before diving into the chorus, along with pulsating synths in what the artist described as a “dance floor banger”. “You’re like a river/You’re like a river/You’re like a river/You go on forever/You’re like a river”
Cyrus has also released a music video to accompany her new track.

Shot in black and white, the visual features the 30-year-old pop singer/songwriter and actress on the catwalk wearing a form-fitting mini dress and high heels. As she sings the lyrics of her own song, she beats her eyelashes under her spotlight and shows off a myriad of sultry poses and dance moves.
“I got a new dress just to see you downtown / Can you walk in the park to show me off? / You can pull your hair as tight as you like / You love me If you can’t stop wrapped in your arms’” Cyrus sings throughout the clip’s first scene, the video standing in front of a white cyclorama similar to those used in fashion and photography.
A scene later in the video shows a cast of shirtless dancers showing off their athletic physique. It’s soaking wet.
