When you think of Nick Cannon, the last thing that probably comes to mind is when he’ll be releasing new music. The first might be his extended family and constant need to publicly discuss monogamy. The second could be his long career as a TV host. Next may be his cognitive work on the immune disease lupus. Or even marrying Mariah Carey. But it’s not new music.
However, in an interview with HipHopDX, Cannon made it clear that he wants it that way. When asked about his time in rap music, he replied, He never thought of himself as a rapper. I wouldn’t say he didn’t take it seriously, but he was more focused on being a producer, a musician. ”
Later in the discussion, Canon (his latest album, Explicit Tapes: Raw & Breleased in 2022) addressed naysayers who made fun of his rap career.
“So if people make fun of me, I don’t care. Anyone can do that. I’m not impressed with people who can rhyme words. I did,” Cannon replied.
He added: they are great. But anyone can do it if they can put a few words together along the beat. Literally Dr. Seuss turned us all into rappers. ”
50 Cent is one of those people who have gone on to make fun of his rapping skills.during an interview with breakfast clubthe mogul was asked why he never responded to a diss that Cannon said in the song. I don’t know why people are so passionate about it.” [rapping]…you suck, bro. you suck. “
His next line took on a life of its own through memes. “Like I never had a moment where I was like, ‘Oh, it’s a bar,'” he joked at 50.

However, Cannon still believes his influence on music is underrated.
“When you look back on it later, you’re like, ‘Oh, he was really into music,'” Cannon said.
