Following the success of the hit single “Super Freaky Girl”, Nicki Minaj has blazed his way to the top of the charts with his first solo single of 2023, Red Ruby Da Sleeze.
New release, the second single from her upcoming studio album NM5, gives the rapper and singer Consecutive No. 1 debut on the Hot Rap Songs chart, according to billboard.
Ahead of Red Ruby Da Sleeze on March 3, the pop star dropped promo snippets on social media platforms, just like Super Freaky Girl.
The song is another sample-backed banger featuring elements of Lumidie’s 2003 hit Never Leave You (Uh Oh).
Ruby’s rise to the top of the charts was largely due to net sales of around 41,000 in its first week, the most for any hip-hop song of the year.
Among all music genres, it ranks second only to Flowers, a Miley Cyrus song with a staggering 70,000 copies.
“Super Freaky Girl,” which samples the late funk rocker Rick James’ 1981 hit “Super Freak,” was released last August as the first promotional single for NM5 and quickly became Minaj’s third national hit. It went number 1 and became her first unaccompanied number 1.
It topped the Hot Rap Songs chart for 11 weeks in 2022, making it one of the biggest songs of the year.
She also made music history by becoming the first solo female rapper to make a Hot 100 debut since Lauryn Hill’s “Doo Wop (That Thing)” in 1997.
After Ruby’s first release, MINaj decided to make an extended version called Roman Remix.

Minaj came up with the idea of creating an alter-ego in music when she reflected on her childhood and how she created characters as a means of escaping traumatic situations such as frequent fights between her parents.
Minaj first mentioned her upcoming studio album in the song Barbie Going Bad, released in February 2019.

It’s tentatively set to drop in 2023, but so far there’s been no official word on when the NM5 will be released.
