Papoose named head of hip-hop for independent artist initiative

Rapper Papoose has been named Head of Hip-Hop for Tune Core, a leading music catalyst for independent artists.

“I’m passionate and want to see other people win,” Papoose said. “They say experience is the best teacher.”

Papoose, who has been involved in the rap game for decades, started by selling CDs from the trunk of his car. Currently, he is highly acclaimed worldwide and is an executive who is focusing on nurturing the next generation of artists.

Tune Core is a development partner that enables artists to be their own bosses, from creative freedom to ownership of their work.

“I think it’s very important to have a company like Tune Core that puts the artist first,” Papoose said. “When you look at the music business…the executives and all the other people have a better life than other artists. That’s how it used to be.”

Bed-Stuy natives are familiar with this experience. After starting his own independence, Papoose signed his $1.5 million record deal. He says this is his biggest regret.

Tune Core has established itself as home to now-in-home names such as Lizzo, Ed Sheeran and Chance the Rapper. In 2021, Papoose made history by releasing her 12th album on Tune Core while receiving her 100% profit.

As the new head of hip-hop at the tune core, rappers will enjoy scouting new and established talent, such as Marlo Smith, an aspiring artist under the wing of one of hip-hop’s most prominent figures. to

“He’s the torchbearer of the hip-hop game,” said Smith. “Papp is someone who has a lot of experience in the music industry…he comes on board as a mentor, as a resource for artists as well…we don’t get a lot of it..if he’s hip hop. It’s an exciting moment to be in charge of.”
