Phil Elverum announced his Mount Eerie tour on Wednesday, starting May 5th in Philadelphia. In his post, the artist wrote that he is also working on new songs for his upcoming album.
“Exciting. Tons of new songs from the album in progress,” wrote Elverum. He added that he will be performing with a variety of musicians at his US shows in early May. “There is growing concern that we are already too tight as a band,” he added.
The songwriter hits the stage with Karl Brau and Country Gravel, Emily Sprague and musician Hrishikesh Harway before heading to Brussels for the end of May to celebrate the 100th birthday of American folk pioneer Harry Smith. celebrate the The Brussels dates include film screenings and Smith’s talk with his Elverum on his definition of the 84-track canon. In 2020, Elverum released The Microphones, their first album in 17 years, as a single track record of the same name. Marks Mike’s first release since 2003’s spooky mountainalthough the artist has shared several albums in the meantime with his other project, Mount Eerie.
