The birthplace of hip-hop, Boogie Down, The Bronx, will host a massive celebration to mark the 50th anniversary of hip-hop.
The star-studded concert takes place August 11th at Yankee Stadium. The line-up includes performances by his Run-DMC, Lil’ Kim and Ghostface Killer in New York City. Other artists include West Coast rappers Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube, Lil Wayne, Common and Eve.
The most expensive act, Run-DMC, consists of Joseph ‘Lev Run’ Simmons, Darryl McDaniels and Jason Mizell. The group hails from Queens and is known for hits like “It’s Tricky” and their Aerosmith collaboration “Walk This Way.”
“I’m honored to be on stage in the Bronx, the birthplace of hip-hop, to honor all of my heroes,” Joseph “Run” Simmons said in a statement.
Lil’ Kim, Eve, Remy Ma and Trina join the ‘Queen of Hip-Hop’ set for the concert.
The “Hip-Hop Pillar Set” includes DJ Kool Herc & Cindy Campbell, Grandmaster Kaz, Curtis Blow, Mele Mel, Roxanne Shante, Scorpio and Sugar Hill Gang.
Tickets are $50 and go on sale Thursday, June 8th. The general sale begins at He Friday, June 9th at 10am.
