CARBONDALE, Illinois — Continuing a rich history of hosting internationally renowned musicians and performers, Southern Illinois University Carbondale will host Outside the Box 2023, a new music festival later this month that will host a region-wide Music lovers can enjoy their interest and influence in music. to campus.
Now in its 16th year, the festival runs March 24-31 on campus and at various Carbondale locations. All workshops and concerts are open to the public and admission is free.
Grammy Award-winning Third Coast Percussion will showcase their latest productions as they kick off the festivities on Friday, March 24 at 7:00 PM. His SIU Wind Ensemble, conducted by Professor Christopher Morehouse and his SIU’s Band Director, will then join for the Southern Illinois premiere. A work co-commissioned by American composer David T. Little’s 2015 arrangement of “Radiant Child” by his SIU.
