Oakland, California – Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has spoken out about the dispute between two lyrical powerhouses in rap.
During an interview with GQ about his upcoming acting debut, the four-time NBA champion was asked if he'd be willing to give his opinion on the Kendrick Lamar and Drake feud. Curry didn't hesitate to say yes.
“I'm a huge Drake fan, I always have been,” Curry told GQ's Joseph Bien Khan. “You know what that means in the rap industry, but I still love Drake. Absolutely, absolutely.”
Curry and his wife, Ayesha Curry, have been spotted out and about with Drake on multiple occasions.
Drake has previously praised Curry in songs like “0 to 100,” whose lyrics sparked an internet frenzy: “I'm Steph Curry in shots, I'm Chef Curry in sauce, I'm Chef Curry in pans.”
The feud between Kendrick and Drake has become a hot topic not only in the music industry but also in the sports world.
Los Angeles native and Sacramento Kings player DeMar DeRozan joined Lamar on stage for his Juneteenth performance after he praised DeRozan with his hit song “Not Like Us.”
“Not Like Us” is the fourth diss song Lamar has written for Drake.
Denver Nuggets' Russell Westbrook joined DeRozan on stage, and LeBron James was also in the crowd.
Lamar's third diss song against Drake, “Meet the Grahams,” served as a warning to Curry to stay away from the Canadian rapper.
“LeBron, keep your family away. Hey, Curry, keep your family away.”
Then a few weeks ago, a video surfaced of Curry and James warming up during the 2024 Paris Olympics, as Lamar's song “Not Like Us” began playing.
Curry said, “This song is so crazy…it's not the only song in America,” to which James replied, “I love it.”
