Every day, app developers are pushing the envelope to improve and enhance the smartphone and tablet experience. In fact, with so many Android apps popping up every day, it’s hard to keep track of them all, especially when Google doesn’t provide resources for discovering new apps.

6000 Thoughts is a life coach app. It helps you organize different thoughts into consistent data and use it for decision making. Start by putting that thought into your app. Then ask questions, identify your feelings about the idea, and do other things until it’s resolved. Then resume with another topic. This is a handy little trick to help you process your thoughts, especially for people whose thoughts are often distracted. The app looks good, works well, and is free at the time of this writing.
Artifact is a news aggregator. It works like most other cases. You choose the topics you’re passionate about, and the app provides news about those topics from sources the developers deem trustworthy. It worked very well in our tests. I wish the algorithm was a little more customizable. Even if you click uninterested, the app may decide you like something and overpopulate it in your feed. Other than those minor quality of life issues, it works very well.
Google I/O was held this month, and quite a few announcements were made along with it. That included a major redesign of the Google Home app, which I thought I’d share. The app includes his new UI, the ability to view some of your smart home gadgets on your Wear OS watch, allowing you to view security cameras directly from the web. Handy AI

HandyAI is an AI-powered app that provides various functions. Perform normal ChatGPT functions such as generating images from text, chatting with AI bots, etc. There are some templates and other models that you can experiment with if you want. This app is very well packaged and has a better design than many others quickly put together in this space. Expensive like all his ChatGPT apps, but overall one of the better ones.
imprint
price: Free trial / $15.99/month / $99.99/year
Imprint is an educational app that tries to teach users new things. Many of the basics found in apps like Khan Academy have been omitted, instead focusing on other things. Topics include Philosophy, Bitcoin, Blockchain, NFTs, General History, and more. The app offers chapters in bite-sized sessions that you can do during your work break or while waiting in line at the cinema. This is similar to how language learning apps like Duolingo do it. Either way, the app is free to try, but after that you’ll need a fairly expensive subscription. We’ll let you know if it’s worth it for you.
international spending tracker
price: Free / $1.49
International Spending Tracker is a simple, standalone app for frequent multi-country travelers. Basically, you can enter your financial decisions into the app and convert it to US dollars. As you can see in the screenshot above, this works across currencies. Of course, this is being developed by her one person, so it’s not as strong as other developers in the space. But we do enjoy how clean it is and how well it works for simple things. The Pro version is $1.49. This is completely optional and the only unlocked feature is more consistent currency conversion updates.
POI-2-NAV
price: Free / $2.99
POI-2-NAV is a POI app. You can save points of interest offline. When you need them, you can easily port them to any navigation app that wants to get directions to a specific spot. Most of the time people will just use something like Google Maps. However, we believe there are some niche uses like this, especially if you go hiking or biking a lot. It’s also useful for parking your car on a large lot or a landmark in a city you’re visiting. The UI isn’t the best looking, but it’s functional, and that’s what matters in the end.
TOndO keyboard
price: Free / $3.14
The TOndO keyboard is a unique keyboard that has been around for a long time. This groups characters into a series of joystick-style inputs. Tap each group and slide to the character you want to enter. It’s not as wild as other keyboards we’ve seen, so the learning curve isn’t as dramatic. It’s otherwise clean, has modern features like autocorrection, and even has a split mode for tablets and foldable devices. As with most unique keyboards, ease of use may vary from person to person, but I think this is a great idea.
Voice GPT
price: Free / $3.99
VoiceGPT is an AI app that works primarily with voice input, hence the name. You can communicate with AI chatbots by voice or text. You also have the option to have the bot respond through voice output or text. So it is perfectly possible to continue the conversation with this chatbot and this is its unique feature. In our testing, we found it works very well, almost as well as other ChatGPT bots. You can ask all the same things as other questions.
Weatherian is a weather app with a fun premise. It tries to give you all the information you need to know about the weather forecast for the day in one screen, without the need for scrolling or tapping. This is accomplished by displaying graphs that include multiple sources of information such as temperature variation and precipitation. The app also uses multiple weather sources to try and be as accurate as possible. This works well with things like MyRadar, a dedicated weather radar app, to help make up for what Weatherian lacks. It’s simple, effective, and does what it says. However, it’s not as detailed as a full-fledged weather app.
