Some months are better than others, but mobile usually has at least one great new game every month. Take a look at the best new Android games of the month! Also see our picks for the best new Android games released in 2022.

Best New Android Games of May 2023

Coco Valley

price: free play

Coco Valley is a city building simulator with farm simulator mechanics. Build your own small town, use it to produce goods, sell them to villagers, and upgrade your stuff over time. The main loop is to produce things, use them to create other things, and sell them for profit. There is also a story to play, social elements to interact with friends, and quests to complete. Overall, it’s a very good experience, and I think it compares favorably with other games in the same genre.

drop merge

price: free play

Drop Merge is a merge game similar to games like Threes and 2048. Drop blocks into spaces and merge them to try to create bigger and bigger numbers. Continue this process until you clear the level. It features almost the same strategy as other puzzle merge games, but this one adds a Tetris look to it, but it doesn’t really feel like Tetris. The ads are so annoying I wish there were less, but other than that the game is a good enough pastime.

life makeover

price: free

Life Makeover is a dress up simulator with really good graphics. Most people who have played dress up sims know how this works. Unlock outfits, create your own look, and interact with other players. You can also participate in fashion contests, and there is also a gacha mechanism that gives you even more outfits. There is also a mechanic that allows you to build and decorate your own home. This adds even more complexity to the game. This game came out of nowhere with very few issues from the start. I hope the developers aren’t too greedy with this game.

Lost Words: Across the Page

price: Free / $5.99

Lost Words: Beyond the Page is a storytelling game where you solve various puzzles to progress through the game. Among them is the ability to literally tell stories by moving words around the pages of the book in unique and creative ways. This book is actually the diary of a girl named Izzie. I don’t think this is the best description, but believe me, this is one of her really fun games. With a single price point, there are no free-to-play pitfalls, and it has the potential to be one of the best games to come out this year.

LotR: Heroes of Middle-earth

price: free play

LotR: Heroes of Middle-earth is a gacha RPG with a bit of strategy. The gacha part is self-explanatory. You can summon different heroes from movies and books to fight evil together. As you play through the story, you’ll get a PvP mode where you can test your party against others. The game has a lot of potential, but it feels a little bare-bones in the early stages. I hope the developers will focus on adding more content over the life of the game. It’s okay, but could be better.

Paper Bride 4 Bound Love

price: Free / Up to $7.99

“Paper Bride 4 Bound Love” is the fourth horror puzzle game in the “Paper Bride” series. The developers say they’re going back to basics with this piece. That means good puzzles and good storytelling. It’s pretty scary as a smartphone game. Players progress through the game by solving puzzles. The puzzles can be quite difficult, especially if you don’t know the Chinese alphabet. Watching ads can increase your chances of solving certain puzzles. This is the only part of the game that actually feels like a phone game. It’s definitely better.

Peridot

price: free play

Peridot is Niantic’s latest game and the second game released by the developer this year. The gameplay is similar to the company’s other games. This is an augmented reality game in which you raise and care for tiny magical creatures called peridots. Roam the real world, meet friends, and do game activities together just like Pokemon Go or Ingress. The game definitely needs some optimizations, as many have reported bugs and overheating issues, especially on low-end devices. Niantic needs to sort these out, just like any other game.

run the legend

price: free play

Run Legends is a walking and running fitness game. Count your steps and use it as a point system for game progression. You can also play with other players in this game. The general idea is to walk or run with other players and reach goals together. It’s a fun idea, and gamifying the exercise process has worked for people before. We take Pokemon Go and Zombies, Run! as examples. As an example. The UI can be slow at times and needs optimization. Other than that it’s pretty good.

Sidmeier’s Railway

price: $12.99

Sid Meier’s Railroads is an amazingly capable railroad simulator. This is a tycoon-style game where you play a scenario and aim to complete the target within the given time. Think old-fashioned roller coaster his Tycoon. However, instead of roller coasters comes trains. The game has 16 scenarios and a free play mode where you can build whatever you want without limits. It’s strange that we’re so excited about a Railroad King game when it comes out in 2023 and is clearly the best game in the genre. Games are expensive, but there are many good ones.

Valiant Force 2

price: free play

Valiant Force 2 is the latest game in the Valiant Force series. It takes place after the events of the first game, but not so soon as the player needs to play the first game to understand his second game. It features a turn-based combat system, a PvP mode, a new storyline to play, and some very typical gacha elements. Although the UI can be a bit choppy at times, the presentation is very good and he’s one of the best gachas we’ve seen this year.
