The Cure frontman Robert Smith has announced that Ticketmaster will be issuing partial refunds to fans following complaints that the site charges too much.
Prices were in some cases more than double the price of a ticket to see a British rock band on the Songs of a Lost World tour.
“After further discussion, Ticketmaster agreed that many of the fees being charged were excessively high and, as a gesture of goodwill, offered all verified fan accounts the lowest possible ticket price deal. I have offered a refund of $10 per ticket for ,” Smith tweeted Thursday. Evening (March 16th), all caps.
“And for all Cure shows at all venues, for all other ticket price deals, we will refund $5 per ticket to all verified fan accounts.
“If you have already purchased a ticket, you will be automatically refunded. All tickets sold tomorrow will have a lower fee.”
A fan previously shared a screenshot of the purchase, which went viral, with the purchase of 4 tickets for $20, a service charge of $11.65 per ticket, and a $10 per ticket. facility fee, and a $5.50 order processing fee. .
This brings the total to $172.10 for $80 worth of tickets. Mr. Smith said this week that he is “fed up” with high prices.
The Cure’s Songs of a Lost World tour, which wrapped up in Europe in December, will hit North America in May, June, and July of 2023.

Tickets for the band’s North American show went on sale on Wednesday, March 15, and The Cure had previously announced that tickets would be non-transferable to reduce resale and high ticket prices.
