ted lasso is the show that brought Ted (Jason Sudeikis) to London as coach for the Richmond Greyhounds. Despite his lack of knowledge about football as a sport, he was there to talk to the team and coach them to be the best they could be. So when season 3 came to an end and it seemed like this would mean saying goodbye to Ted of Richmond, I was a little upset. There are many reasons, but mostly because we love these characters and don’t want to say goodbye.
During the season, I was lucky enough to speak with some of the cast before the show ended. I had no idea how the series would end, but I had a hunch that it might be the end. So we talked a lot about their characters, fan reactions to their arcs, and what their journeys to explore throughout the show have been like.
In conversations with Phil Dunster, Nick Mohammed, James Lance, Jeremy Swift and more, we all discussed the origins of Seasons 1-3 and what to expect from their characters. After talking to them, I hope we get to see more of them through shows that don’t revolve around Ted, but even if this is the end of the entire series, at least we’ll have some great conversations with our favorite actors about characters and characters. I was able to Show that it means a lot to all of us!
Jamie’s story shouldn’t end just yet
If in season 1 Jamie Tartt was going to be my favorite character by season 3, I would have called you a liar. Yet, throughout Season 3, we’ve seen Jamie grow into a man who respects those around him and wants to be better. It was incredible to watch and many fans, myself included, were hoping that a new show would come out that would put Jamie in the forefront. When I asked Dunster about the future of Jamie Tartt and what he wanted emotionally, I was clear about what he wanted from this character.
“I hope he learns to love himself,” he said. “Going on, I may not like him learning to help others in the way he was taught himself. well this is not me so what happens after season 3 i don’t know but if there is season 6 where he becomes the coach or something it will be fun to see It will be interesting to see how he passes on that wisdom to others.”

Nate has more
Nick Mohammed brought Nate the Great to life in Season 1, played the villain in Season 2, and finally returned to Greyhound at the end of the season. It was a full-circle story, but Nate’s emotions and his arc have a lot to work on, and exploring it more in-depth in his own show or future Ted Lasso-inspired series. That’s great. When we spoke with him, he asked about bringing Nate’s entire arc to life throughout the show.
“It was a challenge, after all,” he said. “Nate’s role in Season 1 was mostly comedic, and there were some really fun parts to it, and it was definitely a lot easier for me. And certainly around the second half of Season 2. From then on, I think, gradually, much of the comedy was replaced with more emotional, kind of dramatic storytelling, and as a supporting member of the cast it’s very rare to be part of such an extreme journey. It was a real thrill, and it was a joy, and I welcome the challenge.”

Watch the Higgins and Trent Krim Show
If anyone knows what it means to be a fan favorite, it’s Jeremy Swift and James Lance. Higgins and Trent Krim have been talked about throughout the show, and fans were happy to see them shine in Season 3. When I spoke with Swift and Lance for the show, I asked what the fan reaction was to their characters.
“Something happened. I’ve been doing a lot of Instagram lately and someone put in a kind-hearted Leslie who is a true outsider. And I thought, oh, I really like this interpretation of the character.” Because he’s a bit of an outsider in a way,” Swift said. Yes, I loved it and it was such a nice thing to say.”
For Lance, it was about the fan art he saw. “The other day Billy Harris sent me a photo of fan art of Colin and Trent on the dance floor in Amsterdam. That’s why I’m so glad I got to see that piece of art. I love it.”

This is Richmond Way
When I joined a roundtable discussion with Billy Harris as Colin, Christo Fernandez as Dani Rojas, and Korra Bokinni as Isaac, I was blown away by how these three bring these characters to life. I was overwhelmed by how much fun it looked. So it wasn’t all that surprising that Bokinni joked when asked about the friendship they’ve developed onscreen. “When I asked him how he was able to bring their friendship back to life, he jokingly said, ‘It’s been a tough time, just with all the power just looking into each other’s eyes.'” . But then Fernandez further explored how they’ve grown in the three years since the show began.
“We’re lucky that we’re all connected in the same way in life. It’s just set and it doesn’t end there,” he said. “And I know there was probably a job where that could happen, but here, we’re always there for each other and appreciate the friendship and brotherhood.” is real, we’re having great moments off and on set, we’re all on the same journey, and it all started with just being lucky enough to have a job, but now is on its third season, and it’s a hit show, which means we’re living the same thing.”
For Harris, joining from the start meant watching the group grow together from the jump. “From the beginning, what I personally think is how people are welcomed and how they are welcomed into the team and everyone wants to be the best version of themselves. It’s watching in amazement, and I think that feeling welcomed and loved is something we do a lot on set.”
