This is Why Hawaiian Music is Important to All Cultures

Honolulu (KHON2) – Mele: Hawaii’s Gift to the World is a special television presentation highlighting the evolution of Hawaiian music and its importance to the world.

KHON2’s Mikey Monis and TV personality Mele Apana dive into a 30-minute TV special that invites viewers to feel the rhythm of paradise.

“This project was important to me because I grew up around musicians and saw how they keep our Hawaiian culture alive through their music. Much has been lost over the years, but music is the main way we keep our history and traditions alive,” said Mele, co-organizer of “Mele: Hawaii’s Gift to the World.” Apana says

Mele: Hawaii’s Gift to the World takes viewers on a journey of Hawaiian music, its rich history, familiar melodies and a call to action to share its joy with the world.

‘Mele: Hawaii’s Gift to the World’ premieres on KHON2 on Tuesday, June 13 at 9:30 p.m..
