The film, directed by Ark Sullavan, hit theaters last Friday.
Hip-hop director Tamiza Adi’s blockbuster Veeran, released last Friday, received an encouraging response from critics and moviegoers alike. Directed by Ark Saravan, the film features Athira Raj, Sassi, Vinay Rai, Mnishkanth and Kali Venkat in prominent roles.

The project, funded by Sathya Jyoti Films, has Adi himself composing the music. This superhero movie revolves around a young man who develops unique powers after being struck by lightning. How he tries to save the villagers from a ruthless industrialist forms the rest of the story.
The highlights of the film are some interesting moments centered around Addy’s superhero powers and interestingly written characters. But the characterization and predictability of weaker villains stands out like a sore thumb. The comedy scenes partially work and keep the audience engaged to a great extent.
Veeran is the third collaboration between Adhi and Sathya Jyothi Films, after Sivakumarin Sabadham and Anbarivu. The former was released in theaters, while the latter was released directly to OTT. One of the reasons why moviegoers have high hopes for Veeran is Saravan, who earned praise for his previous film Malagada Nanayam.
Amazon Prime recently acquired post-theatrical digital rights to the film. The film is likely to be released to the platform later this month. OTT’s premiere date announcement is expected in three weeks, he said.
