A video has gone viral online, sparking outrage and frustration, prompting an investigation by the California Highway Patrol.

Posted on multiple social media sites over the weekend, it shows people illegally closing down the Bay Bridge for an impromptu music video shoot.

For the many drivers who use this bridge, this image, though disappointing, is not surprising.

“They are knuckleheads.

A CHP spokeswoman said an investigation was underway but could not provide further details.

It’s just the latest in a series of high-profile stunts that turn a span into a parking lot. It’s like a sideshow in February.

In this case, investigators eventually found a green Camaro at another sideshow and seized the car for 30 days. The incident also sparked an investigation into the car’s owner, who alleges detectives may have stolen $20,000 worth of merchandise.

Sideshows, videos and stunts are a cause for concern for drivers like Oakland’s Andrea Smith.

“There are a lot of vacant lots and fields where you can do all this without trying to go to work or to the hospital or hurting the police trying to go somewhere else,” she says.

Castro Valley resident Omar Rojas, who drives over the bridge every day to work, said he was one of the drivers who got stuck in traffic during a show.

He hopes more can be done to limit such incidents.

“I have a feeling something will happen eventually, maybe better cameras or surveillance will be put in place and they will be tracked,” he said.

CHP notes that while arrests are not immediate, as seen in a sideshow investigation in February, the video will provide clues that could help track down drivers in the weeks or months ahead.
