WARREN — The Warren Citizen’s Music Society’s 2023-24 concert season will see new artists joining past favorites.
Three of the six artists will return to Packard Music Hall next season.
RocOpraNatra hosted a WCMA concert in 2016 and group founder Brian Roman sang in the series in 2013.
The New York Tenors first came to Warren in 2019, trio Andy Cooney has appeared at WCMA twice so far, and Spanish guitarist Benis also performed in 2019.
Artist selection chair Ellie Monchuk said subscriber feedback drives many of these decisions.
“As soon as the show is over and they’re out of their seats, they say, ‘That was great. Bring me back,’ or even ‘Bring me back next year,'” she said.
“That’s what Warren Civic Music is all about. Delighting our subscribers.” A new attraction kicks off the season. At Rhinestone Her Cowgirls on September 19, a trio of women perform songs by some of country music’s most legendary women.
Monchak said the show was organized by the same agency as Divas3, a female musical revue that was booked for 2020 but postponed to the following year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. And the glamorous side of country music is emphasized.
This is the group’s 84th season, and although there were no country shows for most of the year, the genre is growing in popularity among its subscriber base, and Monchak books one country show a season. He said he was doing it.
Released on October 17th, “Roc Opra Natra” takes its name from the various genres that each singer specializes in.
“Danny Scott is more of a rocker,” Monchuk said. “Christopher Darro is more of a classic. He’s one of David Foster’s (songwriter/producer) geniuses. He was 22 when he first came here. And Roman brings Sinatra. They. They have very different voices, but they blend well and have a great friendship on stage.”
Ron Gartner, who runs one of the booking agencies Warren Civic Music regularly works with, will be in Mahoning Valley as a performer with Splish on November 8th! splash! “The Music of Bobby Darling” is a tribute to the singers of the 1950s and ’60s who produced such hits as “Beyond the Sea,” “Mack the Knife,” and “Dream Lover.” It’s a tribute and a song that is also the title of the show.
“He doesn’t look like him. He’s just doing music, he’s a true entertainer,” Monchak said.
The New York Tenors will perform holiday songs at their December 14th concert.
“Andy Cooney does a Christmas show at Carnegie Hall every year,” she said.
Daniel Rodriguez, a former New York City police officer, first came to national attention when he sang “God Bless America” at a prayer event for America after the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. and Christopher Macchio.
The first show of 2024 is ‘The Greatest Piano Men’ on April 16th. Four pianists celebrate the music of artists as diverse as Elton John, Billy Joel, Ray Charles, Stevie Wonder and Liberace.
The season ends in Venice on May 2nd. Since 2000, the ‘nouveau flamenco’ guitarist has released more than 10 albums and 6 concert DVDs, and his latest special ‘Fiesta’ has been shown on PBS stations nationwide.
“His production is amazing, beautiful sets, other dancers. He’s a very talented young man and the sweetest person,” Monchak said.
