Duluth — Northland has a new podcast, just down the road from West Duluth.
Wussow’s Concert Cafe at 324 N. Central Ave. hosts everything from comedy and poetry to chess and music, music, music.
On March 7, cafe owner Jason Ussow and co-host Terry Johnson released Episode 2 of Ussow’s podcast, featuring Minnesota musicians Colleen Maia and Alexie Teague.
Episode No. 1 explores biopiracy, chocolate and the creative process with Janaki Fisher-Merritt of the University of Minnesota Duluth Chocolate Lab, Janaki Fisher-Merritt of Food Farm, Gavin St. Clair and Lyndon Ramrattan.
“The first one was over the top and silly, but I learned a lot,” says Wussow.
Podcasts started as a way to promote “One Week Live”. This is the revolving door of his week-long musical act at The Café, and Twin Port’s longest-running compilation series.
It was Johnson’s idea to turn the podcast into a full-featured coffee shop and music venue that could be recorded in the studio below the cafe.
Johnson has so much expertise in recording, editing, and releasing podcasts to all feeds. “He’s got the patience and the heartbeat on how to do it. … I can hardly hear.
They plan to release a new podcast once a month and will have the opportunity to invite Northland farmers, artists, coffee roasters and more through their café.
“For those interested in local food, music, art and culture, it’s a fun way to dig a little deeper,” he said.
Wussow’s Podcasts are released monthly and available wherever you listen to podcasts.
