I’m finally here. The first June Jam since 1997 will be held today. Headlined by legendary group Alabama as usual, the all-day country music concert is scheduled for 1 p.m. at the DeKalb County VFW Fairgrounds at 151st 18th Street northeast of Fort Payne, Alabama’s hometown. there isGates open at 10pm
Led by singer-guitarist Randy Owen and bassist Teddy Gentry, Alabama is known for hits like “Mountain Music,” “40 Hour Week,” “Old Frame,” “Fields So Right,” and “The Closer You Get.” It is Their popularity exploded in his 1980s. This year’s concert will be the first June Jam without beloved Alabama guitarist Jeff Cook, who died last year at the age of 73. The first June Jam was held in 1982. Past June Jams have featured Garth Brooks, Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, The Judds, Charlie Pride, Steve Earle, Clint Black, The Charlie Daniels Band and Glen Campbell. .
Many fans attending the 2023 June Jam will bring home personal memories of previous June Jams and their lives so far, with Alabama songs frequently playing in the background.
