This summer marks the golden anniversary of hip-hop, with a star-studded hip-hop concert at Yankee Stadium on August 11, the day the genre took shape 50 years ago.\n<\/p>\n
The event will feature hip-hop legends Run-DMC <\/strong><\/em> Lil Wayne, Snoop Dogg and Ice Cube will headline the show. The venue will also feature performances by other hip-hop heavyweights including Fat Joe, Slick Rick, Common, Lil’ Kim, Remy Ma and TI.<\/p>\n The event will feature Run-DMC’s “Bottom of the Ninth\u2026The Walk-Off” performance.\n<\/p>\n Run-DMC’s RUN said, “I’m honored to be on stage in the Bronx, the birthplace of hip-hop, to celebrate my heroes.”\n<\/p>\n The event marks the 50th anniversary of the birth of hip-hop and is held as a love letter to all those who popularized the genre and hip-hop. The concert also follows other recent events in the Bronx that recognize the upcoming anniversary and the borough’s role as its birthplace. Last month, the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts celebrated the anniversary with a “Hip-Hop Fever” concert, and KRS-One helped design a logo to celebrate the upcoming Golden Anniversary at a press conference in late April.
