In Rosalia’s new song and music video “Tuya,” the Spanish singer takes viewers on a stylish tour around Tokyo. “I took inspiration from Japanese instruments to create the arrangement for ‘Tuya,'” she says. For anyone who’s ever taken a peek at the star’s Instagram page before, it’s no secret that she loves the city of Japan and travels frequently. So she wanted to take a moment to shine a spotlight on that beautiful culture. and<\/em> style. \u201cJapan wants to move slowly and delicately,\u201d says Rosalia. “It’s beautiful all around. I admire the dedication they put into the little things. It’s what inspires me in everything. It’s all a ritual, really.”<\/p>\n see more<\/p>\n <\/amp-iframe><\/figure>\n Rosal\u00eda describes the song itself as “a connection or an erotic encounter”, but said she wanted the video to have a completely different feel. “video [is centered around] Foreign girls in Tokyo are always alone,” she says. “I found this juxtaposition interesting in the visual part.” Of course, in doing so, she couldn’t help injecting a ton of cool girl fashion into the video as well. (It’s a defining element of Tokyo, after all.) “It was fun creating the look in Tokyo the day before the shoot,” she says. \u201cThe look expresses the playfulness of the moment and is also part of Tuya\u2019s visual context in which sensuality plays an important role.\u201d<\/p>\n Rosalia wears a vintage hysterical glamor tee and quila skirt<\/p>\n<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n In this video, Rosal\u00eda wanted to capture a special element that makes up Tokyo style: the artistic way in which pieces and patterns can be easily put together by locals. This is a decidedly different approach to her fashion aesthetic during the “Motomami” era, when she focused on sleek black leather and moto-inspired looks. She \u201cfinds inspiration in the free combinations of patterns and colors that occur naturally in Japan,\u201d says Rosalia. “I’m also a fan of the way 60-year-old women dress. They look so gorgeous when they dress up every day and go shopping in the neighborhood. I remember wishing I could repeat it.”<\/p>\n What is the star’s favorite ensemble in the new video? “Marni’s yellow suit was associated with vitality, Vivian.” [Westwood]Corset full of eroticism and Margiela tabi [shoes] The elements were inspired by traditional Japanese jikatabi, so it seemed perfect to me,” says Rosalia (she also wore towering Vivienne Westwood shoes).
