Dear PWCS Families, Employees and Communities,<\/p>\n
I begin this week by acknowledging that the education community is further affected by gun violence. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, and the Richmond community less than two hours away. In the wake of these tragic events, I reaffirm that PWCS is taking proactive steps to deter, detect, and defend against this nationwide trend of depression. I sincerely hope that we all experience school life without school shootings. Together we can and must do better for our children.<\/p>\n
We are pleased that the National Association of Music Merchants Foundation has named PWCS one of the Best Communities for Music Education. Now in its 24th year, the award is Community of Music Education Best, recognizing school districts that have demonstrated outstanding performance in their efforts to provide access and education to music for all students.<\/p>\n
To receive Best Community certification, the Schools Department answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, participation in music classes, instructional hours, facilities, music program support, and community music production programs. Responses were verified by school officials and reviewed by the University of Kansas Institute of Music. I would like to pay tribute to all the music educators, students, parents and community members who are dedicated to promoting the importance of music education.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday night, our school board announced the new student board representatives. Gainesville High School’s Isabella Aversano, Forest Park High School’s Fernanda Morante, and Osborne Park High School’s substitute Jacqueline Garcia. I am thrilled to welcome the voices of our new students and look forward to fulfilling our mission to serve as trusted and true partners with our students, families and community throughout the educational process. .<\/p>\n
It was an honor to attend so many high school celebrations as we capped off another memorable graduation season at PWCS. This is a special time for students to take the next step in their lives towards a prosperous future for themselves and their communities. Our students are prepared for whatever path they choose, whether it leads to college, work, or enlistment in the military. We wish all PWCS graduates continued success in the goals they have chosen. Congratulations to all the 2023 graduates.<\/p>\n
As we enter the final week of the 2022-23 school year, please note that June 15th is the last day of classes and an early release date.<\/p>\n
