Tyler, The Creator doesn’t care about anyone’s “objective” list of the greatest rappers or rap albums of all time. In a clip from the new episode of the Rap Radar podcast, Elliot Wilson<\/a> and Brian B. Dot Miller<\/a>the Odd Future founder expressed frustration at the endless fluctuations in rap rankings on Twitter and elsewhere.<\/p>\n \u201cBrother, who does that?\u201d he asks, explaining his response to the constant questions about his \u201cBig 3\u201d MCs and \u201cTop 5\u201d LPs. “Seventeen-year-olds were like, ‘Hey, ready to die<\/i> and enter wu tang<\/i> It’s my top 10 album of all time. ‘ I’m like, ‘Brother, your pussy is growing hair. It’s performative. \u300f<\/p>\n “We have Young Boys and Babies here, are they your favourite?” he continued. “I don’t care what people are ‘objective’. Tell me what’s there?” your<\/i> What I like most is that I learn a lot from people. You get the context.<\/p>\n “I want to know why you think Pookie Dookie’s second album is your favorite,” he continued, pretending to be a curious adult talking to a young fan. It has memories attached to it. His older brother did this when I was younger\u2026 on Track 7 he talks about this\u2014I realized I was going through it. \u2019 That\u2019s what I want to hear! ”<\/p>\n It then shifted its focus to the hierarchical system that fans use to rank albums of their favorite artists on social media. “That’s why I hate Twitter rap because it’s all performative,” he said. “Everyone makes lists like this just to get people on board. Who will be in the top three? Jamiroquai is my favorite band. No one talks about them.” I don’t know and I don’t care because I’m having fun at home and in the car, so why the hell are we sitting here arguing ‘no Tupac in the top 5’?”<\/p>\n The clip went viral on Wednesday (June 7), drawing criticism from Twitter users who objected to the idea that young fans can’t truly enjoy music made before their time. In response, Tyler clarified some of his remarks. “Either I phrased that particular point oddly, or you didn’t understand what I was saying. Some of my favorite things are ahead of my time.” he wrote. “I think it’s very strange to me that people may feel obligated to put it on the list even though they have nothing to do with the album.
