Headlining this year’s Sunday’s Country to Country Festival in London, the multi-platinum, Grammy Award-winning Southern rock group, led by frontman Zak Brown, will present British country music fans with their standout dynamic. It provided an opportunity to relive the live performance. It often ignores genre boundaries.
I was able to gain a little more insight into the band when I attended a roundtable interview with them prior to their show.
“I spoke to Zak Brown and he said, ‘You were talking about Dave Grohl, but you’ve collaborated with big artists not just in country music, but outside of country music. Are there any other artists you’d like to work with?’ I asked, do you want to team up and work together?”
“As Zak Brown explained in an interview, ‘For me, my favorite artist is Adele and it’s a dream come true for me. I had the chance to meet Adele before 21 came out. I knew about her.’ No. She came to me and said, “I love your music,” and I said, “It’s nice to meet you.” A year later, when 21 came out, I was like, ‘Oh my God, I missed the chance to talk to her,’ so for me, this is a must-do list item. I want to do something with Adele, but I don’t know how it will work out.”
The band then explained that it was incredible to get the chance to play with Chris Cornell and that they also played with Dave Grohl. He said yes, and added that more will be added in the future. Listen below.
Later that night, they put on a blistering performance to close out the festival weekend, featuring fan favorites like “Knee Deep,” “It’s Not OK,” “Toes,” “My Old Man,” and “Same Boat.” attracted an audience of Participate. The evening devolved into a perfect Sunday chorus.
The set also included several covers. One of her highlights of the show was when Caroline called on her Jones and Lindsay her Elle to perform her Fleetwood cover of Mack’s “Big Love.” Lindsay wowed the audience with her amazing guitar solos.
“Colder Weather” was the penultimate song. The beautifully crafted ballad was the perfect tune to set the mood and scene for the weekend, with their biggest hit, “Chicken Fried,” settling the house down and ending the night.
