Notes will bounce off the banks of the Illinois River in the third annual Diamond Stone Music Festival, September 7-9.
Since the actual festival runs from September 7 to 9, there will also be a pre-party on September 6, Tai said.
“The main stage runs from 5pm to midnight every day, and the side stages have music starting at 1pm every day,” Tai said.
Diamond Head Resort event coordinator Daniel Tai said there were no new additions to the festival’s third appearance, but 34 bands were headed to Tahlequua.
The festival features genres of music such as country, folk, rock and Americana. Bands scheduled to take the stage include Band of Heathens, Vincent Neil Emerson, Josh Malloy and more. Ty said there will be another headliner, but no name has been released at the time of writing.
Diamond Stone will begin in 2021 and will take place in the area that hosted the Medicine Stone Musical Festival until 2019.
“We felt there was a void in music in the region and a void in festivals of that nature, so we were really determined to bring independent music back to Cherokee County. said Mr Tai.
Tai said people at the resort are excited about the 2023 line-up and the ability to continue to bring local musicians and celebrities to the community stage. Area bands and musicians who have performed include Lance Rourke and Grammy-nominated John Fulbright.
Mr. Tai said that the festival not only allows patrons to come and listen to a variety of national and local performances, but also allows artists to perform in front of local crowds and meet other musicians from the area. said it can also be done.
“At least 13 to 15 acts in our line-up live within a 30-mile radius of Tahlequua, so we have a lot of local acts,” Ty said. “There are a lot of Oklahoma artists, and we want to support a lot of artists who were born and raised here. but we really want it.” Please support local musicians too. ”
About 20-25 vendors will be on site, some of which will feature local craft vendors and food trucks.
Ty said he expects 2,500 to 3,000 spectators this year, as Diamond Stone has sold tickets in 35 different states in 2022.
“It’s really great to see people from all over the country coming to Talequa. It’s really great to have them all come to our little music festival,” Tai said.
The festival will be hosted by celebrities, including large corporate festivals, but Tai said the relaxed atmosphere coming from the Illinois River creates a friendly environment.
